Teenager Troy Parrott reportedly in contention to start against Bayern Munich

Teenage Tottenham striker Troy Parrott is in Jose Mourinho’s thoughts ahead of the trip to face Bayern Munich in the final match of the Champions League group stage.

According to the Daily Mail, Mourinho is looking to give Harry Kane a rest, with both Spurs and their opponents assured of qualification already.

And that apparently means that Parrott, who came off the bench against Burnley on Saturday to make his Premier League debut, is in the frame for a start.

That would be his maiden Champions League appearance, in one of Europe’s best stadiums as Spurs look for a better result than the 7-2 reverse they suffered the first time the sides met this term.

TBR’s View – Parrott offers an opportunity for Mourinho to correct a rare Pochettino failure

Mauricio Pochettino didn’t get a lot wrong at Tottenham but he consistently failed to secure an out-and-out striker to back up Kane.

The likes of Fernando Llorente were never good enough and Pochettino couldn’t get good academy products like Reo Griffiths into first team contention.

So despite his justified reputation for struggling to integrate young players, Mourinho can correct that Spurs issue by bringing Parrott through – and the early evidence suggests he’s the real deal.
