Celtic have failed in their efforts to keep Craig Gordon at Parkhead as the Scotland international agreed a two-year deal at his first club.
Gordon’s Celtic contract ran out and, although Neil Lennon reportedly wanted to keep hold of the 37-year-old, the offer made was said to be significantly lower that his last contract.
According to the Scottish Sun, Gordon was in line for an 80 percent reduction on his last deal, and the player himself told talkSPORT earlier in June that the gap was “absolutely enormous”.

On Monday, Hearts confirmed that the 37-year-old had agreed a return to Tynecastle, where he began his career, making 100 appearances for them before joining Sunderland in 2007.
Unless the Jambos’ legal challenge to stay in the Scottish Premiership is successful, they will be plying their trade in the second tier in 2020-21.
This hasn’t deterred Gordon, however, who was tempted by the “project” at Hearts (BBC Sport) as well as the prospect of first-team football, with a return to Scotland contention hopefully on the horizon.
The news went down very well amongst the Hearts faithful, who took to Twitter to rejoice in their hometown hero’s return:
