Chelsea fans were celebrating last night as, seemingly out of nowhere, they pipped Liverpool to the signing of in-demand German striker, Timo Werner.
The Blues have apparently agreed to meet the near £60m release clause for Werner. It is a move which has come out of the blue, given Liverpool have long been rumoured to be ready to sign the German.

However, it appears Reds owners FSG have stalled on putting the money up, allowing Chelsea to make their move.
It is a clear sign from Blues owner, Roman Abramovich, that he is going to back Frank Lampard in the market.
Werner is one of the hottest properties in world football at the moment. Having fired in more than 20 goals once again this term, Leipzig are now preparing to lose their star man.

And it is Chelsea, it seems, who are going to be the club to land him, much to the delight of their fans.
A whole host of Blues fans were on Twitter yesterday to laud the news. While over at Liverpool things were turning a bit sour, it’s safe to say Chelsea supporters were loving it!
