Leeds United are on the hunt for a new striker this month after Eddie Nketiah was recalled from his loan spell at Arsenal. It appears that Southampton’s Che Adams is the club’s number one target, however, there is also the prospect of a mystery option.
As reported by the YEP last week, Leeds are also tracking a striker playing in Europe who has scored goals at international level.
So who could this be?
TBR have scoured the continent looking for international strikers who might be wanting a change of scenery this month and several names appear likely candidates.
John Guidetti, however, just stands out as the most likely.
First of all, he fits the bill. The 27-year-old is currently with La Liga side Alaves. He has also scored goals at international level, three in fact, in 28 caps for Sweden.

He also has previous in England and Scotland. Guidetti came through the youth system at Manchester City and has been on loan spells with Burnley, Stoke and Celtic.
It also looks as though he is available. Guidetti has played just five times in the league this season, with Lucas Perez and Joselu firmly ahead in the pecking order.
Whilst Guidetti has found goals hard to come by at the Basque club, he had good scoring records in Holland and Scotland and was initially a big hit at Celta after his 2015 move.
His place in Sweden’s Euro 2020 squad is clearly under threat and getting regular game time at Elland Road would offer him a massive boost ahead of this summer’s tournament, especially if he helps fire Leeds to Premier League promotion.
If Guidetti is not the player in question, then perhaps he should be.
