Victor Osimhen has attracted the interest of some of European’s greatest club’s after a great first half of the season with French club Lille. He has scored 13 goals in all competitions at just 20-years-old and could solve The Magpies striker troubles. Here is why Newcastle should target Osimhen.
Summer signing Joelinton has scored just one goal for the club since his move from Hoffenheim in the summer. He is operating at a rate of nearly 1500 minutes per goal and despite the club sitting 10th in the Premier League, goals are a problem.

Jonjo Shelvey is currently the club’s top scorer with five goals. Next on the list is Federico Fernandez, a centre-back, with two goals. Newcastle need goals, and that is something Osimhen is proving he can provide consistently.
In 16 league starts, the Nigerian has scored 10 goals. Some will question the validity of performances in the French league, but he has done it in the Champions League as well. Whilst playing for a Lille side who managed just one point from six games, Osimhen scored twice, including a well-taken goal against Chelsea.

Despite clubs like Tottenham being linked with the striker, Newcastle can offer something the bigger clubs cannot. He would come in and be the first-choice striker if he adapted well to the Premier League.
At just 20-years-old, Osimhen will only get better and has a long career ahead of him. If Newcastle can tempt him with the promise of first-team football, it could be a risk worth taking.
