TBR view: Why Liverpool should make no more new signings this month

Liverpool are running away with the Premier League title. They are 14 points clear of Manchester City with a game in hand and are not looking like slipping up anytime soon.

Jurgen Klopp has already added Takumi Minamino and Joe Hardy to his ranks this month and could yet make more moves. It is important to strengthen a team that is fighting on all fronts, but here is why Liverpool should not sign anyone else.

Klopp is very familiar with the players he currently has at his disposal. He knows what players to play in what games to get the most out of each of them and it seems that the Reds have the winning formula that every team desires.

The players are enjoying playing alongside one another and it looks like they play with a level of telepathy at times. Every single player knows where his teammates will be at what moment, and this level of team cohesion is invaluable.

If the Liverpool boss were to go and make a marquee signing, it could have detrimental impacts on the dressing room. Players who have earned their right to be in a title-winning side will not be pleased if they are ousted for a new face.

Even when key players are out, their understudies have stepped up. Divock Origi has been superb when called upon and Adrian made Alisson’s absence almost forgettable. The strength in depth of this Liverpool side is greater than meets the eye.

Klopp would be playing a dangerous game if he made too many changes to the current Liverpool squad. Why mess with a winning formula – one that has got the club to the strongest position it has been in for many years.
