A third senior Tottenham outing came his way on Sunday, followed by the backing of Ian Wright and then a goalscoring display on Monday. Now, Wednesday is the perfect opportunity for Troy Parrott to answer the calls of frustrated Tottenham fans.
A striker has been an elusive prize for Spurs during the second half of the season. Their season was apparently over when they failed to land one in the January window, despite offers for Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud and even Odion Ighalo (Sky Sports).
Since then, Dele Alli, Steven Bergwijn, Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura have all chipped in with goals – but Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to Wolves highlighted not only defensive frailties, but Spurs were unable to hold the ball up in the final third.
The likes of Alli, Bergwijn and Moura need a player to play off, highlighting Kane’s absence. Parrott, 18, was brought on for three minutes in what was only his third match for Spurs – and that infuriated Arsenal legend Wright.

He told Match of the Day he was “gutted” for Parrott, and called on Jose Mourinho to hand him more of a go. Now, Spurs play host to struggling Norwich City in the fifth round of the FA Cup – and surely it is the perfect opportunity for Parrott.
If his 45-minute display on Monday is anything to go by, then Mourinho has underestimated Parrott. Against a strong Wolves Under-23 side, the “not ready” (Standard) Parrott starred up front – surely making the Spurs boss eat his own words.
Not only did the Irishman score, but he was the talisman during the first 45 minutes. Football London claim Parrott’s absence in the second half suggests he could be involved on Wednesday in what is a crucial clash, in Spurs’ search of silverware.
He held the ball up, bringing the best out of Mauricio Pochettino’s son Maurizio and other attacking midfielders and wingers around him. With Alli, Bergwijn and Moura to play off him, Parrott needs to start and Wednesday is perfect for the striker.
