Overall Tottenham can be extremely pleased with the business they conducted in the recent summer transfer window, as several new signings are already impressing in the team and they are currently third in the Premier League table.
But it looks like they have may have missed a trick with one players that they reportedly wanted.
Spurs were linked (Express) with English centre-forward Callum Wilson in August and they were keen to bring him to North London, but at the time were strapped for cash.
The 28-year-old did even up leaving Championship side Bournemouth and he completed a £20million (BBC) transfer to Newcastle United.
He’s hit the ground extremely quickly since his move to St James’ Park, scoring six goals in the Premier League already this season and he’s become such a key player for them in the space of just a couple of months.

The striker will surely hold aspirations to force his way back into the England squad and he looks to have rediscovered his best touch, with a change of scenery perfect for him.
His £20million transfer fee looks a major bargain with hindsight and it’s a deal Spurs should regret missing out on.
Spurs managed to add a forward recruit before the window shut by signing Carlos Vinicius from Benfica, who joined on a season-long loan and his deal includes the option to buy for £41million (BBC).
25-year-old Vinicius is a Brazilian striker that has shown in glimpses his quality with his brief time on the pitch, but it’s going to cost a huge fee to make his deal a permanent one and signing a Premier League proven forward in Wilson for half his price looks like a missed opportunity.
