TBR View: Three players to replace Granit Xhaka amid reports he could leave Arsenal this summer
With all the news surrounding a potential departure from Arsenal for Granit Xhaka, Arsenal must have plan in place to replace the midfielder.
Failure to do so can have a catastrophic effect on the Gunners’ start to next season.
It’s been discussed at length just what sort of impact the player has on the side by the manager chasing his signature, Jose Mourinho. A couple of years back the Portuguese manager labelled him Arsenal’s ‘best midfielder’.
However, should the 28-year-old leave, who would be a viable replacement for the ace?
Well, it’s been narrowed down to three stars.
Ruben Neves has been a stalwart of the Wolves side since he joined back in the summer of 2017. His impact in midfield has added stability and ensured back to back 7th place finishes in each of the Midlanders’ first two seasons back in the Premier League.
His ball-playing ability is one of the best in the league with the ace 16th for the most passes made despite ex-manager Nuno Espirito Santo’s side’s poor league campaign.
According to The Athletic, he could well be available for £35m this summer, a decent fee for replacing Xhaka.
A second player could be Eduardo Camavinga from Ligue out outfit Rennes. The talented teenager has lit up the French top-flight since he broke on to a couple of years ago.
He holds the third-highest pass accuracy rating of the Rennes side at the tender age of 18-year-old.
However, with the likes of Paris Saint Germain, capturing him will be anything but simple.
Last, and most certainly not least, Brighton’s Yves Bissouma.
The Mali international has enjoyed a brilliant last couple of years with the Seasiders and has been heavily tipped to move to north London.
Reports has suggested the Gunners have the edge in the race to sign the Premier League man.
He may not possess Xhaka’s passing ability, however, he can shield a defence far better than the former Basel ace. His defensive ability is crazy and makes him a standout candidate on Arsenal’s list to replace Xhaka.
