TBR View: Premier League club want just £6m for striker, Leeds have got to be in the mix

Bristol City are reportedly looking to sign Burnley striker Nahki Wells this month with the forward in stunning form on loan at Queens Park Rangers – but surely at £6million, Leeds United need to consider the Clarets ace?

Wells, 29, is currently on loan at QPR for the second successive season from Burnley but the Premier League side could cut short his season-long spell. He has been on fire for the London-based side, scoring 14 goals in 28 games.

The Bermuda international has a stunning goalscoring rate in the Championship, netting 72 times in 210 games – an average of a goal in less than three games. He has also created 65 goals, thus proving his creativity.

The Daily Mail claim Burnley are willing to sell Wells permanently for £6million and Bristol City are interested, after failing to land Eddie Nketiah who saw his Leeds loan cancelled earlier this month. The striker hs remained at Arsenal.

But Marcelo Bielsa still needs to replace Nketiah and after Saturday’s defeat to QPR, a match in which Wells scored the only goal of the game, fans are once again getting on Patrick Bamford’s back after he missed a penalty to equalise.

At a pretty small figure in £6million, Wells would be the ideal January signing. Back in the summer of 2017, Leeds tried to bring Wells to Elland Road, with the Daily Mail claiming the Whites made an enquiry for the striker.

Bielsa wants two things from his players. Versatility and work rate – and Wells boasts both, especially as he can be used out wide. His incredible assist tally of 65 in the Championship is further proof that he would be the ideal Bielsa signing.

The Argentine manager stuck by Bamford over Nketiah during the first half of the season because Bamford contributed more to play, while Nketiah looked to score goals. Wells is more than capable of doing both. Even this season, he has four assists.

At £6million, Leeds have got to rival Bristol City for Wells as he is Bielsa’s perfect striker.
