Newcastle United are potentially putting a giant dent in the career of Dwight Gayle as things stand.
The former Crystal Palace and Peterborough man has failed to be given starting opportunities under Steve Bruce. This, despite the woeful form of summer signing, Joelinton.

According to a report from The Daily Mail today, the Magpies will let Gayle leave on another loan deal. However, any permanent move will cost potential buyers in the region of £20m.
That fee demand, plus the fact Gayle is not getting many opportunities under Bruce, means that the striker’s career is threatening to drift into obscurity.
Despite featuring on the bench most weeks and making eight appearances this season, Gayle is clearly not favoured by the Newcastle management team.
A proven goalscorer
There can be little argument that, at Championship level at least, Gayle is a proven commodity.
Last season he fired in an impressive 23 goals during a loan spell with West Brom. Similarly, he scored the same amount of goals the season prior as Newcastle were promoted from the Championship.

It’s a record that deserves more respect in all honesty. His chances in the Premier League have been limited, which, on the surface, makes little sense given his record in the second tier.
With the likes of Ollie Watkins being touted for a move to the top-flight and Oli McBurnie and Neal Maupay costing hefty sums in the summer, it seems strange for Newcastle to not be using Gayle.
Frustration
Gayle will be watching on with frustration at St James’ Park. Joelinton is struggling to find any sort of form. However, he is still being given the nod by Steve Bruce.
That in itself is reason enough for Gayle to be upset. Add to that the fact he seems to be being priced out of a permanent move, and the frustration is understandable.

There are a whole host of Championship clubs who’d love to have Gayle on the books. But the problem comes in the fee Newcastle are demanding.
Unfortunately for Gayle, it looks like a loan move will be his best bet once again. Newcastle, on the other hand, might well regret not gifting the pacey forward a bit more game time.
