Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Napoli winger Jose Callejon with the Italian club requesting a bargain fee of just £8.5million – but surely the newly-promoted side cannot be the only Premier League club interested at such a cheap figure.
Italian outlet Arena Napoli have claimed that Villa are interested in 32-year-old Callejon, who is in the final months of his contract with the Serie A side. Despite his contract situation, he has remained crucial to Napoli this season.
Scoring only one goal in his 24 appearances, the former Real Madrid star has remained crucial in terms of creativity. He has laid on an assist once every three games, providing eight assists this season. His stats for Napoli are sensational.
Indeed, he has scored 76 goals and created 79 more during his time at Napoli – clocking up more than 300 appearances. Despite all that, his future is in doubt and Villa are looking to land him for just £8.5million this month.

But at that price, Villa cannot be the only Premier League side interested in Callejon. Certainly, Steve Bruce and Newcastle United are desperately in need of a new winger this month – with injuries mounting up.
Allan Saint-Maximin has impressed at Newcastle since joining the club last summer, but is injured. Matt Ritchie has been injured for much of the campaign, while Christian Atsu is struggling for form. Miguel Almiron is being used elsewhere.
The Toon certainly have the cash to spend but it remains to be seen if owner Mike Ashley will open his cheque book. But for such a bargain fee of £8.5million, Newcastle have to rival Villa for Callejon.
