TBR View: Martin Odegaard isn’t the only Arsenal player stepping up

If you were to look at what’s trending right now with the Arsenal fanbase, Martin Odegaard would surely sit at the top of the pile.

It’s a Gunners love-in right now for the 22-year-old, who has really stepped up in the past few weeks to earn huge praise from supporters at the Emirates Stadium.

He’s shown flashes of brilliance since he joined on loan from Real Madrid, but he’s looked far more consistent lately.

The left-footed attacking midfielder scored big goals in both the north London derby and the Europa League, while creatively it looks like most of the team’s play is going through him.

Odegaard is understandably receiving a lot of the attention, but one teammate deserves a special mention too for helping to raise the bar with his own individual efforts.

Alexandre Lacazette, 29, is someone who’s been largely underrated during the majority of his Arsenal career.

He’s not always started every game under manager Mikel Arteta, but he’s come up with a purple patch of form at the right time.

The French centre-forward now has three goals in his last four Premier League games.

His presence when starting in the central striker position gives the team a much better shape, as others link around him in the final third and he offers an actual outlet ball.

Lacazette isn’t getting the kind of recognition he deserves for his domestic form before the international break, but the manager needs to ensure he maintains his spot in the XI when club football returns.

Arsenal look much more dangerous when there are two wingers alongside the striker, with a creative playmaker in just behind.
