TBR View: Lo Celso injury could hand rarely-seen Tottenham star chance to shine

Tottenham star Dele Alli could earn the chance to start in this weekend’s FA Cup clash with non-league minnows Marine – and he must seize the window of opportunity.

The attacking midfielder has fallen down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho and speculation over his future remains rife.

With Mauricio Pochettino now back in football at PSG, some rumours have suggested a reunion with Alli could be on the cards.

There’s absolutely no saying that the 24-year-old will definitely leave though and it could prove a risky decision.

With Giovani Lo Celso likely to be out until at least the end of the month, Alli could have the perfect chance to prove himself.

The midfielder has rarely been seen this season but the fact that Mourinho has occasionally called upon him, suggests he hasn’t completely washed his hands.

With the Argentine now out for a while, Alli could take the opportunity to step into the breach – starting with the game against Marine.

Of course, the England man will be expected to shine against lower league opposition and that alone won’t win him his regular place back.

It does, however, give him a chance to showcase his talents with little pressure and with everything to gain.

The £100,000-a-week star will know that Lo Celso is due to be missing for a few weeks.

His creative talents will be missed and Alli will fancy earning his place back and playing his way into Mourinho’s thoughts.

A year ago Tanguy Ndombele was out of favour and is now integral. That showcases that Mourinho can be won over and Alli must take note.

The ball is now in his court and he could be set for a big couple of weeks.
