Liverpool have reportedly come up with a plan to help them buy Timo Werner in the coming weeks, and that is to sell both Marko Grujic and Harry Wilson – and Leeds United have got to help them in their pursuit of Werner, by landing Grujic.

The Daily Express have reported Liverpool are desperate to sign RB Leipzig striker Werner, and in order to do that, they are looking to freshen up funds. Indeed, they need to spend £50million to match Werner’s release clause – which expires in April.

In order to freshen up some funds to reach that eight-figure clause for Werner – who has netted 27 goals and laid on 12 assists in 36 games – Liverpool are ready to offload both Hertha Berlin loanee Grujic and Bournemouth’s Wilson.

Leeds are well-stocked out wide, while Wilson is rated at £25million – out of Leeds’ price range even if they do gain promotion. Grujic, 24, is likely to be much cheaper and he would be a stunning signing alongside Mateusz Klich.

From the middle of the park, whether that is a holding role or a box-to-box style of midfielder, Grujic has scored eight goals in 45 outings for the Bundesliga outfit. However, he will struggle to have any kind of future at Anfield, given the competition.

Leeds need a midfielder that can score, and one that can permanently partner Mateusz Klich in central midfield. This season, Pablo Hernandez, Stuart Dallas, Tyler Roberts and Adam Forshaw have tried – but have not done the role as well as Klich.

Grujic can do that. The Serb is earning £15,000 a week (Spotrac) and that is more than affordable for Leeds. If they get promoted, the Liverpool midfielder would be a top signing – and netting the Hertha loanee would help Liverpool land Werner.
