TBR View: If West Ham sign Serhou Guirassy, surely Albian Ajeti will wave goodbye

Sky Sports have claimed that West Ham are in talks to sign Amiens striker Serhou Guirassy with the French club now open to a loan-to-buy deal despite previously wanting a permanent sale – and that is surely bad news for a current Hammers man.

The report states that West Ham are locked in negotiations over a move for the 23-year-old target man, who has netted four goals in 16 Ligue 1 matches for Amiens this season. He was signed for a fee of £5million by Amiens in the summer, from Koln.

The Hammers are after a striker as David Moyes’ side sit in 17th place in the Premier League. They need some fire power to take them from a relegation battle to mid-table obscurity, and Guirassy is being targeted as the man to potentially do that.

However, West Ham do have multiple options up front. Sebastian Haller has shown in glimpses why the Hammers splashed an enormous £45million to nab his signature, while Albian Ajeti joined the club as back-up from FC Basel.

Signed for £8million (BBC Sport), 22-year-old Ajeti was seen as a potentially excellent signing given he clocked up 43 goals in 96 outings for the Swiss giants prior to his move to the London Stadium. However, he has struggled with the Hammers.

He has failed to start for West Ham in the Premier League, managing only eight substitute appearances. Sky Sports claimed he was open to a loan exit in January, but has played for two clubs – meaning only a loan to Sweden, Japan or the US is possible.

Similarly, a permanent move would prevent him in the same way but if the Hammers sign Guirassy, Ajeti has got to seriously consider a move – loan or permanent – to a Swedish, Japanese or MLS club.
