Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly hopeful of doing a deal for Brazilian defender Eder Militao this summer. El Desmarque is reporting that Jose Mourinho has personally been in contact with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez about a potential summer move for the player, as a replacement for the seemingly outgoing Jan Vertonghen.
Militao, who cost a reported (The Guardian)£43.5 million from Porto in the summer has largely played as a replacement and Tottenham would be hoping to lure him to North London with the promise of regular football. The Express has reported a potential asking price of £70 million.
But another Premier League team who were very keen on signing the player previously were Everton.
In September 2018, Brazilian source UOL was suggesting that Everton had been tracking Militao during his time in Brazilian football. The report claimed that the Toffees would continue to do so after his move to Porto a month previously, for a reported (Dragoes Dareal) €4 million (£3 million).

But Militao was soon starring in Portuguese football and earning caps for Brazil. The secret was out and Real Madrid came along to kill any chance Everton had of signing the player.
Now, the news that Militao could be up for grabs must be music to Everton’s ears. He is clearly a player Marcel Brands is a fan of, having put him on Everton’s radar back in the summer of 2018.
Everton are also still in need of defensive reinforcements, despite improved form from Mason Holgate and Yerry Mina.
Militao would be a massive boost to Everton defensively and, given their recent success regarding the recruitment of players such as Lucas Digne, Andre Gomes, and Moise Kean, Everton clearly have a knack for deals of this ilk.
If Militao is available this summer, then Everton must try and put right their £3 million missed opportunity from two years ago, but at a potentially steep price of £70 million.
