Ex-Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was one of the best things to happen to the club in the 21st century, taking the club to a Champions League final and putting together such an exciting team that unfortunately always just fell short at the final hurdle.
The Argentine was sacked a year ago today as Spurs boss after five years in charge and left them 14th in the Premier League table at the time.
If current manager Jose Mourinho is to win silverware this year, then a lot of credit will go down to the way Pochettino shaped the squad.
The likes of Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane are on fire for a Spurs team sat second in the Premier League, but both were moulded and already big successes under Pochettino.
One man though that has completely turned the corner though is Eric Dier, with Mourinho deserving immense credit for that.

Dier’s Spurs career looked at crossroads towards the end of Pochettino’s reign, as he was struggling for form in the central midfield position and looked miles off the player he was a few years beforehand.
But Mourinho put faith in the 26-year-old by moving him back into a centre-back position, which now means he’s a regular in the club XI in defence and also back in the England national side as a result of his improved form.
It would be a stretch to say he’s now got the perfect game, but he’s back performing at a decent level and looks like he can be an important figure moving forward this season.
He looks like a new man since the arrival of Mourinho at the North London club and will hope he’s still yet to reach his peak.
