Real Sociedad player Roberto Lopez might not have won a Liverpool contract but he has told Marca that joining the Reds on trial was something he couldn’t turn down.
The Spain under-21 international was invited to England for a short trial with the Premier League champions.
He was close to joining Liverpool, although a contract wasn’t forthcoming in the end.

Lopez is now finding his way in La Liga with the San Sebastian-based outfit, making seven appearances and scoring twice for the club.
He made his debut for the Spain under-21 outfit during the international break, scoring against the Faroe Islands and Israel.
Thins might have taken a different direction, however, with Lopez confirming that he spent some time in England.
He told Marca: “I could not miss that opportunity and I went to Liverpool for a test week. They told me that there were also a lot of people in my position.”
TBR View – Lopez doing his best to prove Liverpool wrong
The 20-year-old is doing pretty well as he settles into life at Real Sociedad.
The young forward was also turned down by Atletico Madrid and Villarreal before eventually getting himself a club.
Lopez can play through the middle as a centre-forward or out wide on either side of a front three.

With that in mind, he might have proved a decent acquisition for Liverpool.
The Spaniard has only played 144 minutes in La Liga this season, starting just a single game.
He has, however, scored twice for the first-team and his potential is there for all to see.
Of course, his time will come and he’s already making an impact in the Spain under-21 squad.
Liverpool will watch Lopez’s progress with intrigue and he’s doing his level best to prove the Premier League champions wrong.
