West Ham are reportedly closing in on a move to sign Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham as David Moyes desperately tries to add cover in the middle of the park – but could such a move finally help a Tottenham Hotspur outcast?
Reliable French outlet Foot Mercato have claimed that West Ham are in advanced talks to sign France Under-21 international – who has impressed at Celtic since joining the club under Brendan Rodgers from Manchester City.
Since his move in 2017, Ntcham has played 116 times for Celtic – showing off an impressive goalscoring rate of around one in every six games, netting 20 in total. The former Genoa star has also created 11 more goals, winning two league titles.
But under Neil Lennon, his game time has curtailed slightly – starting only 18 of his 31 outings this season. West Ham, meanwhile, need a midfielder with David Moyes looking to add cover for the likes of Mark Noble and Declan Rice.

Ntcham has a contract until the summer of 2022, and was the subject of a £15million bid from FC Porto in the summer of 2018, as per the Scottish Sun. Celtic may not get such a fee due to his reduced game time, but it will not be far off.
Given Celtic will rake in a decent fee for the midfielder, surely they will look to replace him and that would give Neil Lennon all the financial power required to bring back Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama.
The Evening Standard have claimed Celtic are interested in bringing the Kenya captain back to Glasgow, with Spurs willing to accept offers of around £9million for the ex-Southampton midfielder.
Since Celtic would be losing an important midfielder but are likely to receive a decent fee, surely it makes sense for Celtic to sign Wanyama before the deadline – ending his Tottenham nightmare, which has seen him play once under Jose Mourinho.
So, if West Ham can complete a move for Ntcham, surely Celtic have all the tools ready to end Wanyama’s Tottenham nightmare.
