Rangers went nine points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a 1-0 win over Kilmarnock and Cedric Itten highlighted exactly how he can win more opportunities in Steven Gerrard’s team.
The Gers have been in lethal form this season and although they weren’t at their fluent best at Rugby Park, they did once again keep a clean sheet.
With Celtic in Scottish Cup action, Gerrard’s team took full advantage of their rivals not playing to roar even further clear at the summit.

Itten arrived at Ibrox in the summer for £3 million from St Gallen but has been forced to wait patiently for a proper chance so far.
The youngster has managed two goals during a rout of Motherwell but yesterday was just his second start in the Premiership for his new club.
Itten was probably under no illusions that he’d instantly be a first-team regular and with that in mind, it’s up to him to prove his worth to Gerrard.
Yesterday he was handed the chance from the off in a right-wing role, with Alfredo Morelos up front and Ryan Kent on the left.
Itten managed four shots against Kilmarnock and put himself about displaying tremendous work rate for 90 minutes.
With Morelos, Kemar Roofe and Jermain Defoe all battling it out for a place in attack, Itten might have to show his versatility.

Yesterday was a positive start and if he can continue to show willing when called upon in positions that are perhaps unnatural, it should put him in good shape to win more opportunities.
Itten looks like being a big player in the future and the more strings he adds to his bow, the better his prospects will look at Ibrox.
