TBR View: Brighton wanted Arsenal player in May, could he help Gunners push Ben White deal over the line?

It has been a busy few days at Arsenal. Albert Lakonga, Ben White and James Maddison have all emerged as targets. Goal claim that a £40million offer has been tabled for White, but that offer has been rejected. A second bid is expected – but could Eddie Nketiah help Arsenal get him?

White, 23, has been sensational over the last couple of seasons. The defender helped Leeds gain promotion to the Premier League during a loan spell, playing every minute of their 49 matches. He returned to Brighton and was crucial for the Seagulls last season – playing in numerous positions.

Goal report that Arsenal are interested, with White now and England international and part of the 26-man squad. The Gunners saw a £40million bid rejected with Brighton wanting £50million. But surely, Arsenal can reduce the asking price by suggesting a player-plus-cash deal to Brighton.

Why Eddie Nketiah can help Arsenal get Ben White from Brighton…

TeamTalk reported recently that Brighton are interested in signing Nketiah from Arsenal this summer. The England Under-21 skipper is about to enter the last 12 months of his contract at Arsenal. Fabrizio Romano claims that a new offer is on the table, but West Ham, Watford, Leverkusen are all keen.

Brighton do have options up front by Danny Welbeck and Neal Maupay have not scored regularly enough. It has been stated numerous times throughout the season that the Seagulls need a striker. Nketiah has not had regular game time at Arsenal, but he is a real fox in the box.

With Brighton keen, surely including him in a deal for White makes sense? It would see Brighton receive a player they want, without spending a penny. Arsenal would get the player they want for a reduced fee and Brighton would still get a price probably north of £30million. Suits all parties.
