TBR View: Ben White is the game-changing signing Arsenal crave

Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign Brighton defender Ben White and it’s fair to say he’d be quite an addition to their defensive ranks.

The 23-year-old has caught the eye during the current campaign after spending the 2019/20 season on loan at Leeds United.

He’s taken to the top-flight like a duck to water and is now being monitored by the Gunners, Dortmund, PSG and Manchester United, according to The Sun.

It would seem as though Arsenal might not be playing in Europe next season for the first time in many years.

Sitting ninth in the Premier League, Mikel Arteta’s men will need to win the Europa League to stand any chance at all.

That looks a long shot and without Europe on offer, the club will be forced to shop in a different market.

The latest report claims that White is valued at £35 million by the Seagulls and Arsenal could afford such a sum.

Not qualifying for Europe would be a hammer blow but White is exactly the sort of signing that would excite the fan base.

He is capable of playing as a centre-back or as a holding midfielder and is only set to improve in the coming years.

Quality

White is comfortable on the ball, makes very few mistakes and constantly puts his body on the line for the cause.

He’s the type of player that gives his all in each game and quite simply, Arsenal don’t have enough of his type.

The mentioned fee of £35 million looks like a snip and the Gunners could do with a quality central defender when the window re-opens.

White could be a game-changing signing for the Gunners and Arteta has to pounce in the summer.
