TBR View: At £25m Liverpool must pounce for Joachim Andersen

Joachim Andersen could be available for just £25 million this summer and if that is the case Liverpool simply have to pounce.

The 24-year-old has shone on loan at Fulham during the 2020/21 campaign and the player is set to have plenty of options in the summer.

Lyon are open to selling the centre-back and Tottenham are interested, according to a report by the Daily Mail.

Liverpool can’t let any Premier League rivals steal a march on them though and must act quickly this summer.

Whichever way you dress it up, Jurgen Klopp’s team have been largely dreadful this season.

Injuries to key players have seen the squad decimated and the players who have come in simply have been up to scratch.

As a result, it promises to be a huge summer for the Anfield giants and Klopp needs the board to back him.

Virgil van Dijk will be back next season but that might not be enough to see Liverpool reclaim their Premier League crown.

Klopp should be aware of the quality which Andersen could bring to his squad. In the recent 1-0 win for Fulham against Liverpool, he was outstanding; claiming the Man of the Match accolade.

Quality

Andersen has played 25 times in the Premier League and wouldn’t require a settling in period.

He is strong in the air, can play out from the back and at 24 has time on his side to continue improving.

Nat Phillips and Ozan Kabak have both done a decent job of deputising of late.

Klopp has to assess whether or not he feels Liverpool can win trophies with those two as defensive options within his squad.

The answer is probably no and that makes Andersen an ideal signing for the Reds this summer.
