If you dissect the Arsenal squad, it’s pretty clear that one of the positions they need to try strengthen is at centre-forward.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is starting to build a decent core of players at the Emirates Stadium, but it’s still someway off from the level needed to get back fighting for Champions League positions consistently.

They should definitely be looking at add another striker if finances allow it this summer.

One man that should crop up on their radar is Danny Ings.

The English forward, who joined Premier League rivals Southampton on a permanent basis for £20million (BBC) back in 2019, has been a major success at St Mary’s.

He’s exactly the kind of frontman that would be a brilliant addition to the squad at the Emirates Stadium, as he’s genuine top-class competition for Alexandre Lacazette.

According to Sky Sports, league leaders Manchester City are interested in potential signing the Southampton frontman at the end of the season.

But Arsenal need to enter the race, and tempt him to the Emirates.

The natural finisher has 42 goals in 92 appearances for the Saints, and he could post even better numbers playing with better teammates at Arsenal.

There are some that will rightfully highlight injury problems, but he went through the whole of last season without setbacks and his talent alone means he would be worth the gamble.

He’s someone that has always received high praise for his ability, including previously from ex-Arsenal forward and current pundit Paul Merson.

He pointed out that he’s someone that is so intelligent with his. movement.

“His all-round game, he’s a proper footballer, he’s always one step ahead, he knows what he’s doing before he gets the ball,” Merson said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
