TBR View: Arsenal must pull out the stops to sign Brighton star
Yves Bissouma has advised his agent that he wants to sign for Arsenal during the summer transfer window, according to Football London.
The Brighton midfielder will be a wanted man this summer. Liverpool and Tottenham will provide the Gunners with competition.
Bissouma signed for the Seagulls from Lille in 2018 and has taken the Premier League by storm.
During 2020/21 he scored twice in 39 appearances in all competitions, taking an integral part in Graham Potter’s team.
Now, interest is rife but the Malian is in no doubt as to who he wants to join this summer.
Despite the interest coming from all corners, Bissouma is keen to put pen-to-paper on a deal at Arsenal.
The Gunners are desperate to bolster their midfield ranks and will have some cash to play with during the window.
Signing Bissouma is unlikely to come cheap. The Athletic previously claimed that Bissouma was valued in the region of £40 million.
Arsenal appear to have missed out on a deal to sign Norwich playmaker Emi Buendia.
Aston Villa are set to win that race and the Gunners will perhaps turn their attention towards another area of the pitch.
Thomas Partey has failed to win over the Arsenal faithful, whilst many believe Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny aren’t good enough.
As a result, a midfield enforcer is required and Bissouma could prove an attractive signing.
Bissouma to Arsenal: Arteta can’t afford to miss out
Losing out to Aston Villa in the race to sign Buendia will smart.
In the eyes of supporters, the Gunners are far bigger than the West Midlanders and some will wonder what on earth has it all come to.
All is not lost just yet. Arsenal will ultimately be judged on the business they’ve done at the end of the window.
Signing Bissouma has become a necessity though, if just to appease the club’s expectant supporters.
The 24-year-old wants to join the Gunners and they must do whatever it takes to get this particular deal ironed out.
Arsenal need to improve next season and Bissouma could be just the man to get the club back on track.
