Patson Daka looks set to be a wanted man this summer and Arsenal simply have to throw their hat into the ring.

The Zambian striker has been an absolute goal machine at Salzburg and Liverpool and Manchester City are keen to pounce.

Alexandre Lacazette has 11 goals to his name but he has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium in the past.

As a result, another option might be sought and all roads currently lead to Salzburg.

Daka has proved himself as one of Europe’s top marksmen during his time in Austria.

The 22-year-old has found the net 61 times during 114 appearances and has 27 goals to his name for 2020/21.

Naturally, the next step in his development will be to head to a top European league, so why not the Premier League?

Mikel Arteta is still striving for consistency in the Arsenal hot-seat. This much was highlighted last week when his team came from 3-0 down to claim a 3-3 draw with West Ham.

The Gunners made some eye-catching business during last summer but more quality will be needed this time around.

It’s thought that Daka will be available for £18 million during the summer and Arsenal need to be in the mix.

Aubameyang’s struggles won’t have gone unnoticed and at 31-years-old a time will come when a younger model will be sought.

Competition

Arsenal can solve that conundrum this summer by stealing a march on other clubs for Daka.

Interestingly, the striker looks up to Aubameyang. He told the BBC in January: “To see our big brothers like Aubameyang, Salah and Mane, it’s something that gives me the dream that I can also mate it.

“I can be like them. They are my inspiration, knowing that they also come from Africa.”

Daka would get plenty of game time at the Emirates and given Aubameyang’s struggles, he could kick the Gabonese star into life by providing real competition.

Arsenal need to act.
