Arsenal were previously linked with a move for Lyon forward Memphis Depay and last night the Dutchman was busy terrorising Hector Bellerin, according to El Desmarque.

Spain drew 1-1 with Holland in the Amsterdam Arena with Donny van de Beek cancelling out Sergio Canales’ opening goal.

Bellerin played the full 90 minutes for Luis Enrique’s team but his player ratings highlighted a tough night at the office.

El Desmarque wrote: “The Arsenal player suffered at times when controlling an attacker of the level of Memphis Depay.”

Bellerin has become a first-team regular under Mikel Arteta, despite it seeming like his days could be numbered last season.

One thing that is highlighted by last night, however, is that Arsenal would be wise to return for Depay.

The 26-year-old is out of contract at Lyon during next summer and is bound to have a host of suitors.

Depay has scored five goals and claimed three assists in 10 games this season for the Ligue 1 outfit.

Arsenal were linked with a move for the ex-Manchester United player, although the valuation between the two clubs was way off.

Lyon wanted £36 million for the flyer who was valued closer to £25 million by the Gunners (Todofijaches).

Shrewd

Arsenal should keep tabs on Depay given his contract situation.

His current club will surely not get anywhere near their valuation and the Gunners might be able to get themselves a bargain.

Depay earns £78,000-a-week at Lyon and it has been claimed in the past that his heart is set on a return to the Premier League.

If that is the case Arsenal should prepare to pounce on a player who will have a point to prove in England.

After last night, his arrival at the Emirates would certainly please Bellerin.
