TBR View: Dele Alli must emulate Tanguy Ndombele to revive Tottenham career

Tottenham star Dele Alli is set to be one of the hot topics of conversation during the January transfer window.

The England midfielder has fallen way out of favour under Jose Mourinho and a move would hardly come as a surprise.

Mauricio Pochettino landed the PSG job over the weekend and naturally, Alli has already been linked with a switch to France.

There is a member of Mourinho’s current team that might provide the 24-year-old with some optimism, however.

Just 12 months ago Tanguy Ndombele seemed to have a question mark over his future at Tottenham.

The £53 million signing from Lyon was struggling for game time and Mourinho had publicly suggested he wasn’t doing enough.

Fast forward a year and Ndombele is now a lynchpin in the Tottenham team and one of the club’s most integral players.

The 24-year-old has been a regular in the team this season and Alli must take confidence from that.

Mourinho has given the £100,000-a-week player just one Premier League start this season, favouring other options.

Given his age, there is enough to suggest that he can rediscover his form and win over his boss.

Ndombele is a prime example that working hard and proving a point in training can go a long way towards impressing the boss.

A loan move perhaps wouldn’t be the worst move in the world for Alli just to allow him some much-needed first-team football.

The club should refrain from selling him at all costs though and the ex-MK Dons man can still have a future at Tottenham.

The challenge for Alli is to somehow emulate Ndombele and force his way back into Mourinho’s thinking.
