Newcastle’s striker issues are clear to see, despite the club currently sitting four places above the relegation zone. The Magpies striker, Joelinton, has scored just one league goal this season and it is becoming a real problem. Steve Bruce should make a move for controversial Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.
The Colombian striker has been on brilliant form for the Scottish club in their fight for the Premiership title. He has scored an impressive 12 goals in 18 league games. Rangers are currently sat just two points behind leaders Celtic and have a game in hand on their rivals.
Losing their top scorer at this stage of the season would be a devastating blow for the club but it could be unavoidable, with several Premier League and European clubs interested. Sky Sports have reported that Spanish side Sevilla are considering making a move for the forward. Steve Bruce should seriously consider rivaling them for the 23-year-old’s signature.
Newcastle currently have five defenders on more goals than Joelinton in the Premier League and are in desperate need of a deadly striker who knows where the goal is.
Morelos would provide exactly that and his goal record speaks for itself. In 126 appearances for Rangers in all competitions, he has scored 76 goals and provided 28 assists. That almost equates to a goal or assist in every game, which is exactly the kind of returns that Newcastle need in their attack.
The move from Scotland to England is not always a successful one, but it could be worth those at St James’ Park taking a risk.
