Tanguy Ndombele should have no complaints if dropped by Tottenham

Tottenham host Southampton on Saturday in the Premier League and it seems vital they got a positive result to relieve some pressure.

Spurs were beaten on penalties in midweek by League Two Colchester United in the Carabao Cup, while also suffering a defeat away to Leicester City last weekend.

The pressure appears to be building on manager Mauricio Pochettino after an underwhelming start and this comes after the North London club spent big in the summer.

Spurs forked out £53.8million (BBC) for Tanguy Ndombele in the summer from Lyon, while Ryan Sessegnon, Giovani Lo Celso and Jack Clarke were also signed.

Ndombele hit the ground running with a goal and an assist in his opening two Premier League games, before a hamstring problem saw him sidelined through injury.

The Frenchman has been back though since the international break and he’s yet to hit top gear.

He should have no complaints if axed from the XI against Southampton, but it will interesting to see what Pochettino does with his team.

Ndomebele, 22, was left out the side for the cup game along with some other regulars, but did start in the defeat to Leicester.

He also started away to Olympiacos in the Champions League group stages, as they blew a two-goal lead to end up drawing 2-2.

The box-to-box central midfielder has looked tired in both of those games and isn’t providing the kind of engine expect of him.

Ndomeble certainly has the potential to be a top player for Spurs, but the team are going into a vital game at the weekend where they need a response and it may be time to lean on some more experienced heads.
