Tanguy Ndombele has posted on Instagram as Tottenham Hotspur beat Bayern Munich on penalties after a 2-2 draw to win the Audi Cup in Germany, and the Frenchman is hoping for more.

Less than 24 hours after beating Real Madrid in the semi-final thanks to Harry Kane’s winner, Spurs were tasked with beating Bayern to lift the Audi Cup and looked to have done just that, after taking a 2-0 lead.

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou’s superb cross was turned home by Erik Lamela before the break, before Christian Eriksen’s superb turn and shot eluded goalkeeper Sven Ulreich. But Bayern came roaring back.

Youngster Jann-Fiete Arp scored from close range just after the hour mark, before Alphonso Davies scored an excellent curling effort. But Paulo Gazzaniga saved Jerome Boateng’s penalty to win 6-5 in sudden death.

Tottenham’s record signing Ndombele said he is “hoping there will be more” after posing alongside Moussa Sissoko on his Instagram with the Audi Cup.

TBR’s view – Spurs need a trophy, and fast

Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure at Tottenham has transformed the north London club. Indeed, the Argentine has taken them from being a Europa League side – to an established top-four outfit, and Champions League finalists.

But the only slight on the former Southampton manager’s time at Spurs is his lack of a trophy. Preference has been given to the Premier League and Champions League, and perhaps it is now time for Pochettino to alter his aim.

The FA Cup and League Cup are still impressive wins, and if Spurs can lift one of those trophies – or indeed the league or Champions League – the pressure will finally be relieved.
