Tanguy Ndombele has Instagram admission for Tottenham fans after Wolves penalty-shootout win

Tanguy Ndombele has told Tottenham fans on Instagram that he knows Wednesday night was not his best performance – against Wolves.

Ndombele, 24, was handed just his third start of the season in all competitions. However, it was a third successive start, at Molineux.

Spurs took the lead through the France international. Breaking through the Wolves defence, he took advantage of some poor Conor Coady defending.

Cutting inside, Ndombele tucked neatly under John Ruddy. Harry Kane made it two, only for Wolves to pull it back to 2-2, and then penalties.

Ndombele was at fault for both Wolves goals, failing to stop his marker Leander Dendoncker from powering a header home.

Then, he gave the ball away as Wolves pushed for a second – eventually ending in a neat finish from Podence. He posted on Instagram.

Should Ndombele start against Arsenal for Tottenham on Sunday?

It is a tricky scenario. Nuno Espirito Santo will be wary that Arsenal have their confidence back after three straight wins – and it is at The Emirates.

He will certainly be tempted to play more defensive-minded midfielders. Harry Winks was omitted on Wednesday, perhaps he was being rested.

Meanwhile, Oliver Skipp was good against Wolves – getting the assist for Ndombele’s goal. He could feature in a midfield three.

As things stand, Skipp is probably more likely to feature alongside Dele Alli and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. But that could change, if Dele is used up top.

Steven Bergwijn’s fitness could prove crucial. If he is fit, Dele moves back into midfield and Ndombele drops out. Time will tell.
