Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has been speaking to the press in France about his desire to remain at the top.
Spurs signed the midfielder from Lyon in the summer. As reported by The Guardian, he became the club’s most expensive player at £55 million.
Unfortunately, despite some glimpses of his obvious talent, Tottenham have struggled for form this season. But it sounds as though the French midfielder will be trying to improve.
Speaking to Canal +, as relayed by Le Figaro, Ndombele knows that in five years’ time he could easily be forgotten about if he does not continue to improve his game.
“I’m never reassured. I stay focused. I try to go forward, while thinking that we can quickly go back. Maybe in five years, we will not talk about me anymore…
“You never know in football. It’s humility. You see big players like (Lionel) Messi or (Cristiano) Ronaldo, they have five Ballon d’Ors and they still want some (more). I just signed in Tottenham, I do not have the right to be satisfied, I still want some (more) too.”
Tottenham fans have probably not yet seen the best from Ndombele. A big investment in the summer, Mauricio Pochettino has perhaps not managed to find his best position in the Tottenham team.
But his form at Lyon last season had some of the best teams in Europe clamoring for his signature and Tottenham won the race to sign him.
Hopefully, his desire to not be satisfied can see Ndombele find his best form for Tottenham and, in turn, help the club turn their fortunes around.
