Tanguy Ndombele comments give Everton hope despite apparent £90m price-tag

Last month Everton were added to the long list of clubs said to be interested in the signature of French international Tanguy Ndombele. The Liverpool Echo reported that Everton had even sent chief scout Martyn Glover to keep an eye on the Lyon player.

That report highlighted a potential £40 million move. However, Ndombele is wanted by teams with even more financial clout than Everton.

The likes of PSG, Real Madrid and Manchester City have all been mentioned. With that in mind, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently suggested a fee in the Pogba region, around £90 million, is what Lyon would want for the player.

Everton are well backed financially these days, although £90 million could be out of their price range.

However, Ndombele would seem open to a move. His comments to Canal this week have given Everton hope as he admits he would consider a move to any club if the sporting project was right.

“I don’t imagine how my career will go, I live it instead.

“When I was young I didn’t dream of being in this or that club (like PSG), whether it is Real Madrid, Barcelona, City, I have never dreamed of being in a specific club like that.

“Of course they are big clubs, (but) I don’t close the door to anyone.”

Everton are looking for further central midfield reinforcements, as well as wanting to bring in Andre Gomes from Barcelona permanently. Therefore, a £90 million move for Ndombele would be unlikely. But if that fee is negotiable it at least seems as though Ndombele might actually listen to an offer from Everton.
