Tanganga will stay with Tottenham, confirms his agent
The agent of Japhet Tanganga has confirmed he will stay at Tottenham Hotspur this season.
What’s the story?
Tanganga was heavily linked with a move away from the Lilywhites before the new campaign kicked off.
According to the Athletic, Spurs had accepted a loan offer from Galatasaray.
It seemed for all the world as if the defender would leave the club. However, he has enjoyed a swift turnaround in fortunes.
Tanganga started the first game of the Premier League season against Manchester City.
He was roundly praised for his performance as the club beat the reigning champions 1-0. Nuno Espirito Santo claimed he was ‘fantastic‘ against the Citizens, while Gary Neville said he was ‘really good‘.
And it seems he will now stay in N17 and fight for a place in the first XI.
When talking about his client, Roberto De Fanti said: “It has radically changed. Over the window, we thought the best idea, the player agreed, was to go on loan to put 30 matches under his belt. Then Galatasaray came in, it was a good offer for the player, for the club. I can’t say the club was pushing me, but they thought it was a good idea to go and play 30 matches.
“Plays against Arsenal in a friendly? Plays really well, Tottenham go silent. Then man of the match against [Manchester] City, Tottenham silent. So, I picked up the phone and called [Fabio] Paratici and I said: ‘What are we going to do?’ He said he would stay.”
Tanganga has the tools to succeed
Amid confirmation he will stay, Tanganga has all the tools to succeed at Tottenham.
His defensive performance against seasoned players like Raheem Sterling was sensational.
No Spurs player made more fouls than the 22-year-old as he hurried and harrassed whoever played on the City left.
With Serge Aurier potentially leaving, the youngster’s performance has saved Tottenham a headache of having to look for a replacement in the market.
However, aside from his talent, he has one crucial tool to succeed at the club. Tanganga has the support and love of the Lilywhites faithful, who sang his name proudly when he was subbed against Pep Guardiola’s men.
