Tammy Abraham reacts to Tottenham appointing Antonio Conte

Tammy Abraham has told Sky Sport in Italy that he is sure that Antonio Conte will take Tottenham Hotspur forward after being confirmed as the club’s new manager.

It was announced this week that Conte has come in to replace Nuno Espirito Santo. Nuno had lost five of his opening 10 Premier League games at the helm.

The appointment appears to be an incredibly exciting move from Spurs. Conte, of course, has won a number of league titles during his managerial career.

He won the Serie A crown four times, including the Scudetto with Inter Milan just last season.

But obviously, another of his league triumphs came while with Chelsea. And it was while there that Abraham had some experience of working under the Italian.

Abraham spent the majority of Conte’s tenure out on loan. But the striker clearly had enough of a chance to work with him to know that Tottenham have produced a coup.

“I had the pleasure of being coached by Conte, I know his abilities. I’m sure he will make Tottenham grow a lot, but we too have a great coach from whom we are learning a lot, every day,” he told Sky Sport Italy when asked about whether he would like to see Roma and Spurs make the Europa Conference League final.

“If the teams do well it would be. It’s nice to be in the final, but we have to concentrate on the match against Bodo and try to get through the group stage.”

Conte has potential to help Tottenham clear that final hurdle

It is hard to imagine Spurs not moving forward in the wake of Nuno’s departure. Unfortunately, the Portuguese simply seemed to be the wrong man for the club.

So Conte should have little problem helping them move up the table and improving their performances.

But it is that final hurdle that Spurs have not cleared for some time that is going to define Conte’s tenure.

He has a proven track record. And Tottenham have an impressive squad.

Perhaps the pieces are finally set to fall into place for Spurs.
