Talk of Arsenal and a new number nine still hasn’t quietened down really, despite the Gunners going for a number of targets dating all the way back to last summer.

Their protracted pursuit of Dusan Vlahovic in January ending in misery, while they’re also said to be looking at a number of players this summer, with the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Alex Isak, and more said to be on Arsenal’s radar for what it is hoped will be a big summer.

However, one player who some might forget that Arsenal wanted last year is former Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham. And just eight months from those original links, it’s looking more and more like Arsenal made an error.

As confirmed by Talksport today, Abraham’s double for Roma against Lazio today ensured he was Roma’s record goalscorer for a first season in the Italian capital. Interestingly, that puts him in front of legendary figures such as Gabriel Batistuta and Vincenzo Montella. Quite the achievement, then, for Abraham.

TBR’s View: Abraham Is What Arsenal Need

There might have been eyebrows raised inside The Emirates if Arsenal had paid the £34m Roma did last year for Tammy Abraham. However, not even a year later, and it looks like money well spent by the Serie A side.

23 goals in a debut season in a league known for being defensive is quite the output. Abraham, put simply, has been outstanding and has adapted to the Italian league excellently.

His England teammate Jack Grealish once called Abraham ‘unbelievable’. And at this moment in time, Abraham is living up to that claim in the red of Roma.
