‘He had a shocker’: TalkSPORT pundit rips into Joe Gomez after Liverpool v Forest

Jamie O’Hara has been speaking about Liverpool on TalkSPORT this morning and slammed them for looking like a Championship side.

The Reds failed to build on two big wins against Man City and West Ham as they went down to a Nottingham Forest side who seem reinvigorated under Steve Cooper. Taiwo Awoniyi’s goal was enough for Forest to pick up all three points, as Liverpool struggled.

Jurgen Klopp once again put out a patched together side that wasn’t helped by a late injury to Thiago. But according to O’Hara, Liverpool – and Joe Gomez in particular – simply aren’t up to it right now.

“What’s going on here? James Milner right back, Joe Gomez centre-half. Look, he’s been playing ok but he had a shocker and I’m looking thinking this can’t be Liverpool’s best XI.

“I know they picked up injuries, I get that. But this is a team who were competing with Man City for three or four seasons, and now I’m looking and thinking you pick up a few injuries and your team looks like a Championship side,” O’Hara said.

Gomez was also slated by former Liverpool player Robbie Fowler as well. The ex-striker claiming Gomez couldn’t do simple things right as he struggled against Forest.

TBR’s View: Gomez Criticism Harsh

Yes, Gomez didn’t have his best ever game in a Liverpool shirt since signing for £3.5m back in 2015, but then so many others were poor as well.

Jurgen Klopp just doesn’t seem to be able to get any consistency out of his Liverpool players right now. Sure, injuries are a problem but against teams in the bottom three, Liverpool should still have enough quality.

So, while Gomez has been picked out by O’Hara here for having a bad game, there is more than one other Liverpool player who needs to be looking at themselves as well.
