Liverpool are yet to make a signing this summer transfer window despite being in the market for a midfielder.
Martin Zubimendi was identified by Arne Slot as a prime target for their number six role and talks were advancing.
However, ultimately, Zubimendi rejected Liverpool and now the search for a specialist number six continues.
With that said, one talkSPORT pundit has shared his frustration at what Liverpool keep failing to do.

Jamie O’Hara frustrated Liverpool don’t sign the best players
Speaking on talkSPORT (August 12th, 11:25pm), Jamie O’Hara admitted he gets really frustrated that Liverpool don’t sign the best players.
“What I can’t my head around, and I bang my head against the wall thinking about it, when you see top 10 football clubs around the world, Europe, Liverpool in there, Liverpool everywhere. You can’t sign, you don’t get the best players.”
Indeed, Zubimendi is an example of that notion but also last summer when they failed to get Moises Caicedo over the line.
They’re in need of a centre-back following Joel Matip’s departure and yet they’ve watched Manchester United sign Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt.
Liverpool are being left behind
All of Liverpool’s Premier League rivals have significantly strengthened this summer and are starting to close the gap on The Reds if not surpass them.
Many were hoping to build on last season’s third-place finish but with no new arrivals, it’ll be challenging to go one better or even hold onto that spot.
Aston Villa, who finished fourth, have spent £150m on eight new arrivals whilst Tottenham have just outlaid £65m on Dominic Solanke.
Liverpool are being left behind at the moment.
