TalkSPORT pundit says Everton should appoint 43-year-old manager who’s been linked
TalkSPORT pundit Andros Townsend has claimed Everton should look to appoint Eddie Howe as their next manager.
The Merseyside club are on the search for a new coach after Tuesday’s shock development. Carlo Ancelotti left his role as Toffees boss to take charge at Real Madrid.
All eyes are on who they bring to Goodison Park, and they are one of several clubs around looking for a new manager.
Englishman Howe has been out of work since he left Bournemouth in August 2020, but he’s someone with a great reputation.
The 43-year-old, who was at Bournemouth for eight years, took them from the League One to the Premier League. Eventually, he suffered relegation with the club after keeping them in the top flight for five years.
According to the Telegraph, Howe is someone that is a contender for the job on Merseyside.
Townsend has suggested that Howe is the perfect candidate for Everton.
“I think Eddie Howe would be perfect,” Townsend told talkSPORT.
”Reading on Twitter last night, he’s not someone the Everton fans want, but they have to forget the last two or three months where Bournemouth got relegated. He had an incredible spell at Bournemouth.
“If he had what he did with Bournemouth at Everton, and the resources and squad that they have, for me, he’d be the best man to get the club to where they want to be.”
Next Everton manager has colossal job on his hands
Howe is one of several managers linked with Everton that look a great fit on paper, but it’s a huge job for whoever does fill the role at Goodison.
Ancelotti has been bridging the gap between the Toffees and the teams above them. However, they are still a bit short of the European positions.
The Ancelotti news is going to shock the Everton squad. It makes sense to try appoint a man-manager that can lift them quickly.
