Talks expected between club and agent over future of ‘Messi-esque’ £34m Aston Villa target

Aston Villa have been linked with Juventus loanee Matias Soule in recent weeks and speculation continues to do the rounds ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Villans have enjoyed a great season for the most part, but a number of inconsistent displays and poor results have left their top-four hopes somewhat in the balance.

As things stand, Villa are still fourth, but Tottenham – who beat them 4-0 last time out – are now just two points behind with a game in hand.

Nonetheless, the Unai Emery project is heading in the right direction, and there’s certainly scope to bring in more top talents in the summer.

Soule is now one of Serie A’s hottest properties. The 20-year-old has registered 10 goals and two assists from 26 league outings for Frosinone.

According to Calciomercato, Juve and Soule’s representatives are set for talks over the player’s future, with Villa among a number of clubs said to be in pursuit.

As well as the Villans, the likes of Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and Southampton are apparently also eyeing Soule this summer.

The report claims Juve are after a fee in the region of €40million (£34million) for the young Argentine.

Villa have shown to the football world that they have serious pull in the transfer market, signing highly sought-after players like Moussa Diaby and Pau Torres last year.

With that in mind, the Villans will certainly fancy their chances of bringing Soule to Villa Park this summer.

Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout previously described the reported Villa target as a ‘Messi-esque’ talent who ‘can really produce magic’.

Meanwhile, Claudio Ranieri was quoted by Tuttomercatoweb as saying: “When you have champions like Soule who shoot like Maradona or Zico, you just have to applaud him.”

With Juve seemingly willing to cash in on Soule and talks between club and agents looming, everything seems to be aligning in place for a summer move, and Villa seem likely to be active on this front.
