Fabrizio Romano claims that Chelsea could now try to sign Shakhtar Donetsk winger Myhaylo Mudryk if his proposed move to Arsenal falls through.
Arsenal are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements as they aim to cement their place at the top of the Premier League table.
The Gunners are coping well without Gabriel Jesus so far and have won both of their games after the World Cup break.
Despite moving seven points clear at the top of the pile, Arsenal are attempting to land one of the most exciting talents in Europe in Mudryk.

The ‘unstoppable’ winger is seemingly Mikel Arteta’s top target this month and Romano has previously reported that the Gunners have already had a bid knocked back by Shakhtar.
Now, it seems that Arteta’s men have submitted a fresh proposal but their London rivals are waiting in the background in case the deal collapses.
Chelsea could try to sign Mudryk
Romano claims that Arsenal have now improved their initial off for Mudryk that was worth around £53 million.
The transfer insider says Shakhtar now face a decision over the proposal but the situation is being monitored by Chelsea.
If a deal collapses, Graham Potter’s men could make their move for the 21-year-old as they remain interested in signing him.
Arsenal may have been worried about potential Chelsea interest in the past but it seems that Mudryk is keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium.
The Ukrainian has dropped plenty of hints over the past month on his social media accounts, including a video of Mikel Arteta on his Instagram page.

He seems desperate to join Arsenal and it looks like Arteta’s men are pushing to try and wrap up a deal.
Mudryk has been in sensational form for Shakhtar this season, particularly in the Champions League. The youngster bagged three goals and provided two assists before his side were knocked out in the group stages.
He’s proven that he is able to compete at the very top level and seems like the perfect fit for Arsenal’s young squad.
The north London outfit seem a more attractive destination for younger players than Chelsea right now, with Potter’s side going through a transitional period at the moment.
