Talented Armin Gigovic shoots down exit talks amid Arsenal interest

Helsingborgs starlet Armin Gigovic has hit back at suggestions he is nearing an exit from his boyhood club, amid links with a move to Arsenal (Buon Calcio a Tutti).

The 18-year-old has been touted as a possible target for the Gunners, as per Football London, with Wolves and Genoa also said to fancy his signature.

The Swedish campaign is in full swing and after Wednesday’s 4-1 defeat to Malmo, the midfielder hit back at suggestions it might have been his last game.

He told Buon Calcio a Tutti: “It seems somebody is spreading false rumours and I was shocked.

“The question is between the clubs, agents and so on; nothing I need to focus on.

“Yesterday wasn’t my last game for Helsingborg, absolutely not. There are still other games to play.”

Arsenal will be on the lookout for several new players this summer and Gigovic might have been a recruit for the under-23 ranks.

The versatile performer can operate in midfield, at right-back and as a more advanced attacking option.

There could be hope for interested parties, however, with director Joel Sandborg admitting they might need to sell players to survive; suggesting the ‘the sale of ‘Gigo’ is definitely something that can help us.

With Gigovic perhaps being deemed as one for the future, Arsenal shouldn’t spend too much time dwelling on this one.

Arsenal have a plethora of talented youngsters in their own ranks and the priority for the Gunners this summer must be to add tried and tested players ready to make an impact on the first-team.
