A number of Swindon Town fans have taken to Twitter to express their excitement after the club confirmed on their official website on Monday that they had signed Jordan Stevens on loan from Leeds United.
Stevens has been linked with a move away from Elland Road for a little while. He has established himself as one of the brightest prospects working with the under-23s.
The 20-year-old has a handful of first-team appearances under his belt. But with Leeds securing promotion to the Premier League last season, his task of breaking into Marcelo Bielsa’s plans had become a lot tougher.
A loan move therefore, makes sense for all parties. And it is a fellow newly-promoted side who have managed to add the midfielder to their ranks.
The Robins have made a similar start to Leeds in actual fact. They have won one game, lost the other and have a goal difference of 0.
But plenty of Swindon fans have suggested that Stevens could be an inspired addition. The two clubs have agreed a handful of loan deals down the years.
And some are hoping that he can emulate the last Leeds youngster to make the switch and make a big impact at the County Ground. James Milner enjoyed a brief but successful spell with the club back in 2003.
There is certainly plenty of excitement following the Leeds youngster’s arrival. And those associated with his parent club will be hoping that that buzz surrounding the starlet remains throughout his spell in League One.
Here is how some of the fans reacted to the announcement…
Welcome Jordan sounds like we have some talented lad here. Think the last player we had on loan from Leeds could have been a james milner.
