Liverpool fans have been sweating on the fitness of star defender Virgil Van Dijk after he picked up an ankle knock against Tottenham Hotspur.
Jurgen Klopp has since told the club’s official website that he hopes to have Van Dijk fit to face Southampton next weekend but he is still a doubt.
But Van Dijk has declared himself fit to face his former club Southampton, as reported by The Mirror.
The Netherlands international is still having scans on his ankle but he has revealed that he will be available for Friday night’s Premier League clash.
This is a major boost for Liverpool’s title hopes as Van Dijk put in another excellent performance at the weekend to help his side to victory.
One moment was particularly impressive as he successfully negotiated a two-on-one battle with Moussa Sissoko with the scores level at 1-1 before Liverpool grabbed a late winner.
That challenge happened in the 85th minute and was the cause of this ankle problem. But Van Dijk believes he will be back in action on Friday.
Below are some tweets from Liverpool fans celebrating this news.
He can have my legs, knees, ankles, ligaments whatever he needs, it’s all his. I don’t need them anyway.
