With Swansea City winning the League cup, qualifying for Europe and ensuring a top 10 finish, Manager Michael Laudrup will want to improve on his successful first season in South Wales.
Here we look at the players that could be heading to the Liberty Stadium this summer.
Jose Canas
A holding midfielder from Spanish side Real Betis. According to newspapers in South Wales Jose Canas will be a Swansea City player from the 1st of July.
Canas’ contract will expire in the summer so Swansea will sign him on a free transfer – an amazing deal in my eyes.
The Spaniard loves a tackle and has a great football brain, and like all his fellow countrymen he can really play.
Jose Canas will make a big contribution to Swansea City when they enter Europe next season, I can promise all Swans fans he will be a cracking signing.
Iago Aspas
Iago Aspas is being compared to the Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, by many Spanish experts.
He loves running in behind the centre backs, works hard for the team, and will score goals from his favourite left foot.
He has scored 10 goals for Celta Vigo who were promoted from the Segunda league last season, finding the net for a team who were tipped to go down at the start of the campaign.
Aspas would cost Swansea around £8 million, a hefty price for chairman Huw Jenkins to pay out, however if he joined the club, I could easily see him reaching double figures in EPL goals.
Despite this, there are negatives regarding this potential move – Iago’s decision making is not the greatest. He has recently returned from a 4 match ban after head butting another player, and he constantly gets booked for diving.
Romelu Lukaku
There have been rumours in the press that Lukaku has hinted on another loan move next season. He has also expressed his desire to play in Europe – where better to go than Swansea?
At 6’3, Lukaku has been a beast for West Brom. He has made a big impact for the baggies making 31 appearance, providing 14 goals.
He can do anything with the ball making him a very special player. I expect big things to happen during his career and European experience with Swansea will only improve his style of play.
Lukaku is only young and still lacks experience, however the form we’ve seen for Steve Clarke’s team suggests he is going to be a valuable asset for any side he plays for.
Alberto Botía
The 6’2 Spanish centre back has been very surplus to requirements for Sevilla having only made two appearances this season.
He is strong, good in the air and can play with the ball. If Ashley Williams leaves in the summer for Liverpool or Arsenal, I could see Botia making the move to South Wales.
The former Barcelona B would cost around £5 Million.
Jonathan De Guzman
De Guzman has been on loan to Swansea city this season from Spanish club Villarreal.
He has impressed many of the club’s fans and is able to play in a variety of positions across the midfield. However, some supporters will argue he has lacked constancy and will fade in and out of games.
I’m not sure on how much De Guzman would cost the Swans, but I can’t see the club forking out more than £5 million.
