Swansea reportedly closing in on first summer signing

According to reports, Marseille forward Andre Ayew is on his way to Swansea to complete a move. The 25-year-old is a free agent this summer, when his current contract expires.

Former Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp broke the news earlier today, having joined Twitter just yesterday, and now Sky sources have confirmed a deal is close.

The Swans are known to have had an interest in the 62-cap international with chairman Huw Jenkins an admirer of the player who has attracted interest from Liverpool, Spurs and Newcastle after opting to run down his contract in France.

Ayew has been prolific for Marseille in recent years, with his latest season producing 10 goals in 28 appearances, and a further three assists.

Having lost star striker Wilfried Bony to Manchester City during the January window, manager Garry Monk opted to put aside the transfer money, and trust the players already at his disposal.

However, with a long summer transfer window ahead, the Englishman now has the perfect opportunity to build a squad capable of outdoing last season’s best ever points total.
