Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly added surprise contender Steve Cooper to their managerial shortlist ahead of the summer as the Welshman continues to impress with Championship side Swansea City – and Swansea fans have reacted on Twitter.
Jose Mourinho was sacked as Tottenham manager on Monday after a draw with Everton last Friday, leaving the North London club in seventh place and five points off the top four. However, it is a surprise, given the Carabao Cup final is on Sunday.
The Telegraph have reported that Spurs have four names on their managerial wishlist ahead of the summer, with RB Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann at the top of that list. Belgium and England bosses Roberto Martinez and Gareth Southgate are also options.
Cooper has impressed during his early years as a manager, guiding England’s Under-17 side to the World Cup in 2017 and since taking Swansea to the Championship play-offs last season. He is expected to guide the Welsh outfit to the play-offs again.
Swansea fans reacted to the reports that Tottenham are potentially considering a move to raid the second-tier side for their manager and many laughed it off – suggesting Spurs can do a lot better. One fan said he would “drive him there”.
