Chris Sutton has told BBC Sport that he believes Tottenham Hotspur will draw with West Ham on Wednesday, claiming that Antonio Conte’s side have been strange this season.

Spurs are amongst the early pace-setters in the Premier League. They have taken 10 points from their first four games, with three wins along the way.

They saw off a spirited Nottingham Forest side at the weekend, winning 2-0 at the City Ground.

For West Ham meanwhile, Sunday provided a key moment. Pablo Fornals’ deflected strike gave David Moyes’ men their first victory of the campaign as they compounded the misery on Aston Villa.

Despite Spurs’ results, Sutton is not convinced that they are the real deal. And he believes that they will drop points against the Hammers at the London Stadium.

“Tottenham are quite strange really. They love to lure teams in and counter but West Ham got their first away win in their last game. The Hammers have had centre-half issues, they started with a back three against Villa but David Moyes’ tactical switch to a four at the back won them the game,” he told BBC Sport, as he predicted a 2-2 draw.

“You never know with Spurs, they can click but I think this will be a draw. I think West Ham will score with Spurs defending very, very deep.”

Tottenham have been strange this season

Tottenham’s form could go one of two ways. It may be that they are not yet at their best, but showing the form of champions by grinding out results while they wait to hit top gear.

Or it may indeed be a sign that they are still some way off being in a title race conversation.

But it says a lot that they have beaten Wolves and Forest when not at their best. They are two very decent sides who play good football. And both will pick up some impressive wins this season.

West Ham have the potential to be a lot better than they have been so far. So Wednesday will not be easy either.
